Biography: Amir Hightower was born in Griffin, Georgia. At a young age he knew his love for sports and spent lots of time participating in them. His success at a young age lead him to three all-star games 7&8, 9&10, 11 &12. Also, played on top AAU teams in the south metro area known as the Griffin Drill Team and F.O.E that won many tournaments through the years. Even though sports were very important to Amir during his life growing up he took academics very well. He attended Griffin Christian Highschool which he was awarded presidential awards, honor roll, inducted in The National Society of High School Scholars, Fellowship of Christian Athletes, graduated high school with Honors and top half of my class. Sports were a big motivation in Amir’s life. In high school he was a multisport athlete playing both Basketball and Track & Field. During High School Amir played all four years while bringing home a region and state championship. Specifically, during his sophomore year, he made an impact as 6th man in playoffs made it to the state championship for the first time in school history, junior year won the school first ever region championship and led team to the final four also awarded all-region, senior year led team to the final four and awarded all-region for the second time. As you can tell basketball was a driving force. However, Track and Field quickly became a passion through the success of the state qualifier junior and senior year in four separate categories (400,4x1,4x4 and High Jump). Senior year in Track & Field was the first year the school had ever won region championship as a team in events 4x1,4x4. However, after the region championship he did not only become a state champion in both 4x1 and 4x4 but held the GISA state record for 4 years in the 4x1. As high school was concluded, he had multiple offers that lead to him signing with Truett McConnell College. Truett was where Amir’s collegiate career began. Unfortunately, due to injury, Amir had to redshirt his freshman year of college, however, that transitioned him into excelling in the next three years of college. Not only has Amir’s passion and love for the game led him to compete at state and national levels, but it has allowed him to travel and share that passion worldwide. The summer of his sophomore year him and his teammates traveled to Poland on a mission trip, where they played different pro basketball teams, visited schools and helped spread God’s word there. While there he played basketball in the cities of Swinoujscie and Szczein. In Szczein, there was a big game between Team USA(College Team) vs Team Poland (Pro Team). This type of an event attracted many, however, the local fans were let down when Team USA pulled out a last second buzzer beater to claim their victory. 

After the summer, Amir transitioned to a Track & Field athlete where he was on the first ever team at Truett McConnell University where he would compete in the 100,200,4x1,4x4 and Long Jump. The first year of the team he was apart of the 4x4 team that was runner-up at conference. The second year of the program, in conference, he was .3 seconds away from qualifying for nationals but became runner-up in the 4x1 in conference. The third year was very successful, his 4x1 team qualified for the first official outdoor meet of the season in the 4x1. As the season went on, his 4x1 team ran a school record best of 41.23 which placed them at number 7 in the country for NAIA and won the conference championship in that event beating the number 1 team in the country. 

On the academic side of things at Truett McConnell University Amir made it on the Dean’s List three semesters while attending the university, inducted in the first time ever Business Majors high academics of Sigma Beta Delta (Only 12 People) and graduated with a 3.4 GPA in Business with a focus in Sports management. After graduation, him and his team traveled to Gulf Shores, Alabama to compete in the NAIA National Championship where they placed 10th overall in the country. With his degree, he knows his calling on the youth and the power of the next generation. Therefore, he decided to start his own business called, SouthMetroRecruiting. This platform will give the youth hope they need to know there is life after high school, but also, there are people out there supporting them and backing them every step of the way.
